At E3 this week it was announced by SEGA that Indy-turned-NASCAR driver Danica Patrick will become a playable character in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed when the game releases this holiday season. Why did SEGA seek out Danica for this opportunity? Who knows, but hey, that's a pretty awesome looking car her and Sonic are posing with.

Danica will be racing the customized No. 7 Sonic the Hedgehog Chevrolet during the O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge on Nov. 3 at Texas Motor Speedway. It will be televised on ESPN. The Nationwide Series race will mark Sonic's debut in NASCAR, and since both are all about speed, it's about time it happened.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS Vita, 3DS, Wii U and PC.
